DF Concerts & Events is Scotland’s leading music promoter and event management company. The company applied for the Step Up to Net Zero (SUTNZ) programme as they recognised the need for additional resources to research key Net Zero and circularity issues impacting the business. Through the programme, DF Concerts & Events were able to recruit a sustainability co-ordinator, Claire, who was given a four-month placement to work on the development and implementation of an Action Plan to facilitate a more strategic approach to their business sustainability goals.
RESULTS
- A comprehensive pre-calculated travel spreadsheet
- A highly detailed report on the prevalence of reusable cups at events and concerts
- A detailed waste audit including analysing the contamination that was taking place across the waste streams
HOW THEY DID IT
During the SUTNZ placement, Claire completed many sustainability action points – from the development of the waste audit, and training documents, to various reports. Claire’s work has equipped DF Concerts & Events with an increased knowledge base and documentation to work on improving staff education on Net Zero and circularity as well as the development of their Social and Environmental Strategy.
DF Concerts & Events strives to reach Net Zero through further actions such as auditing the supply chain and developing a comprehensive map of their Scope 3 impacts. The short-term actions conducted by Claire during her SUTNZ placement has given the company a strong foundation to allow them to begin this exploration after their busy summer season.
Overall, Claire has provided DF Concerts & Events with a new perspective on how to integrate a more sustainability-focused culture into the business and wider supply chain. Her work has provided valuable input for DF Concerts’ strategic planning, and she has left the company with a wealth of knowledge collected into a range of useful documents.
This work will be crucial for DF Concerts & Events to establish the next steps in writing their long-term Social and Environmental Strategy as well as an immediate Sustainability Action Plan for 2024.
