Join us for our March Circular Mixer, bringing together people from across sectors to swap ideas, share resources and accelerate Glasgow’s transition to a circular economy.

Our Circular Mixer series, hosted at Material Source Studio and in partnership with Harley Haddow, are a fantastic opportunity to engage with fellow business professionals and deepen your understanding of how the circular economy can contribute to business growth and support the city’s climate objectives.

We’ll be joined by guest speaker Hugh Graham from Clootie Rugs. Hugh repurposes tartan offcuts to make rugs and bags. Clan and plaid patterns are cut into strips and twined together creating new and unique weaves. Celebrating the imperfect beauty of the handmade he recreates a memory of watching his grandparent’s neighbour, a retired shepherd, making rugs on a simple wooden frame from materials gathered from his local surroundings.

Living in the West End of Glasgow, Hugh works in a similar way with materials obtained locally using traditional tools and rag rugging techniques. He shows the rugs and bags at craft fairs and other venues and is keen to share the well-being benefits of being a maker, keeping a traditional craft alive in today’s fast and technologically driven society.

This interactive event gives you a chance to hear from guest speakers who are experts in their fields, network with potential collaborators and turn ideas into action.
